Weekly Notes
9/10/2012
To WCARES members and friends,
Here are some items that have been sent to me for sharing:
At the test session yesterday, Jack Cox received a request to mention to everyone again about the special event station in conjunction with the visit of the USS LST-325, which is scheduled to arrive in Nashville on September 17th. All the particulars on how to sign up to operate for this special event are located on the NARC website,www.k4cpo.org.
There are still plenty of three hour slots available and this is probably a once in a lifetime chance to operate aboard one of the only two operational LSTs still around.
The younger folks in our midst have no experience with radios of this era. Don’t miss the chance to operate this rig.
USS LST-325 Memorial Event
The USS LST-325 (Landing Ship, Tank) will arrive in Nashville on Sept. 17th and will be open for the day after it has been inspected by the Coast Guard. It will be docked at the Metro Riverfront Park (map) and departs for Clarksville on Sept. 25th. The ship’s current location can be tracked via GPS after Sept. 15th.
The Radio Room of the USS LST-325 will be available for licensed amateur radio volunteers and is a great opportunity to work with vintage radio equipment. If you would like to volunteer to work the USS LST-325 Memorial Event, complete the following form to notify Jerry Hedgcoth KE4ETY of your availability.
I hope that everyone has heard about the special event station that we will be operating during the day from September 18th thru September 24th.
We are inviting all interested hams in and around the Nashville area to participate. Please sign up as soon as possible. Read on to find out how. Thanks.
Please visit http://www.k4cpo.org/ and follow the link to sign up for operating time on the LST that will be at Riverfront Park in Nashville
Any questions should be directed to me at ke4ety@bellsouth.net or 615-400-0743.

The amplifier puts out about 700 watts 80 through 10 meters and can be tested out at my QTH. I am looking for an offer around of $550 or trade for 50 feet of tower plus tri- band antenna.
